As I have, and continue to, seek a closer relationship with God, I have had many questions regarding truth, righteousness, holiness, faith, deeds, and purpose. My way of learning more was to watch others who proclaimed to be followers of Christ. I looked to them as examples how the children of God were to conduct themselves in life. However, after much disappointment and despair, I came to realize that many professors of the Word of God are not possessors of the Word of God. Some of the best biblical scholars are the worst soul winners. My soul was almost lost because of this. In other instances, I have gone to different Christians with the same biblical question. However, what I left with was more questions than I had originally. Each one had their own interpretation of the Word of God. | Click on the box and then enter your search term. | I am not in the position to speak on the "understanding" that God gives from one person to another. But because I come from a Christian family, I did know that more often than not, the responses did not seem right to me. I would have to study and get an understanding for myself. Because of a lack of understanding, I have not lived my life perfectly. Despite this, God is now putting me in a position to be an example to others. At first, my instinct was to run from this position God has placed me in because I did not feel worthy of it. Being a servant for God is something that I take very seriously. Although it is a daily struggle, I strive to be able to live and teach the Word of God, with my life being the lesson in and of itself Through my trials I have realized that in order to do this, I must place my eyes on Him, and no other. Cover to cover, the Bible is the truth and the light. It is the instructional manual to our lives. From our response in crisis and despair, to how we celebrate or victories and successes, the Bible is to be our guide. Although we all fall short, as Christians, we must realize that our lives are to be guided by the spirit and not by the flesh. If we are proactive in the Spirit, we will not be reactive in the flesh. The way we can best accomplish this is through the study of His word. The Word tells us in 2 Timothy 2:15 that we must show ourselves approved in handling the word of truth. This is a daily task, a life-long task. It does not matter where you are in your Christian walk, there are things that God is waiting to reveal to you. I in turn ask, are you ready? Can you accurately handle the word of truth? Is that your desire? If so, be prepared for the realization that with knowledge comes application and much accountabilty. The more you read and study the word, the more understanding that you get of the word, the more you have to stucture your life according to the word. There is no turning back! As I apply this to my own life, I have found several resources to help me with my quest of understanding. I have put them on this page to share and I will be continually updating them as well (see links above). If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to email them to me. 2 Timothy 2:15 NASB: Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
